This week we had our first tournament of the year, in Sherman. We were in great need of this weekend. Friday night was awesome; we won in three against Hendrix. It being our first game of the season everyone was excited to be there and ready to play. The game was so much fun everyone one was talking and enthusiastic the whole game; having 23 people on the team is awesome. Even though we played so well on Friday we had a rough day on Saturday. We played Austin College and University of Dallas, we lost to both teams but these two games really showed us what each of us need to work on and what we need to work as on a team. During the times we were struggling on Saturday it was great when we could bring people off the bench to come in and help us fight back. Being a team with so many new players it may take us a couple of games to get use to each other’s tendencies. There were several games when we would be ahead seven or eight points and we weren’t able to finish. That is something we have had a problem with in the past, but I know we can overcome that and be able to finish strong; we did it against Hendrix. We just need to be consistent in playing all 25 points. After the tournament we went to Great Wolf Lodge for some team bonding, we met several of the volleyball alumni that played for Coach Petree when she won her last conference tournament. It was a great time for us to get to know each other better and spend some fun and relaxing time together off the court as a team. We are practicing this week and then leaving on Wednesday to go to Colorado Springs, CO for a tournament.
